How It All Began: From Yarn to Inspiration
Shortly after I was introduced to the world of crafting, I came across this beautiful hand-dyed yarn and immediately imagined my girl wearing a crochet dress. Knowing that crocheting uses more yarn than knitting, I purchased four skeins. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find any pattern I liked, so the yarn sat on the shelf for almost 2.5 years, waiting for the perfect project. That project turned out to be George's Dress Junior, a stunning kids' knit dress by Johanna Gehrisch.
Why I Love Test Knitting
Meanwhile, I learned how to knit and started participating in test knitting projects. I love test knitting for so many reasons:
- You learn so much from every single pattern.
- You get to be part of a wonderful knitting community.
- Most importantly, I enjoy knitting and helping other people bring their designs to life.
By chance, I came across this beautiful knitting pattern for a kids' knit dress, and I immediately knew it was the perfect match for my hand-dyed yarn that had been waiting on the shelf for its time to shine. The pattern George's Dress Junior was a test knit by Johanna Gehrisch, so I applied to be a tester. Since I didn’t have an Instagram account at the time, I didn’t think I’d be selected, but to my surprise, I received an email saying I’d been chosen! I was thrilled because I could finally use this stunning yarn for such a beautiful project.
The Finished Project: A Versatile and Beautiful Dress
This kids' knit dress is a really fast knitting project with lovely details, like the adorable bow around the waist. The hand-dyed yarn was perfect for it, and the finished result was stunning. After I finished the dress, my little princess wanted to wear it almost every day! She also loved the Popsicle Tank, but this dress quickly became her favorite. Even now, during the colder months, she wears it at home with a long-sleeve shirt and tights underneath. It’s such a versatile and beautiful piece!
