You can find a chart for this pattern at the end of this blog post.

Materials
- Yarn: Drops Paris (Aran/Worsted weight yarn): One scrubbie needs about 3g of yarn. I used 27g of yarn to make 9 scrubbies.
- Hook: 5.0mm (H/8)
- Scissors
- Yarn needle (for weaving in the ends)
Gauge
Gauge is not necessary for this pattern. However, keep in mind:
- Using a larger crochet hook will result in a larger scrubby.
- Using a lighter weight yarn and a smaller crochet hook will result in a smaller scrubby.
This pattern works well with DK weight yarn, but I do not recommend sizing down your hook for this project.
Skill Level
This pattern is perfect for those with an intermediate skill level, but don’t worry if you’re an advanced beginner! With the help of the detailed video tutorial I’ve provided, you’ll be guided through every step, making it a fun and rewarding project for anyone ready to give it a try.
Pattern Notes
-
This pattern is part of the Jade Serenity Spa Set (additional pieces will be released at a later date).
-
The pattern is worked in the round, starting with a magic ring. Alternatively, you can chain 4 and slip stitch into the first chain to create a circle to work into.
-
This pattern uses US crochet terminology.
-
Approximate diameter of the facial scrubbies: 6.5 cm (2.5 inches).
-
Chain stitches at the beginning of the round count as a stitch.
-
Repeats are listed in brackets [ ].
Special Stitches
Front Post half double chrochet (FPhdc)
- Yarn over (YO) as you would for a regular half double crochet (hdc).
- Insert your hook from front to back to front around the post of the stitch in the row below (instead of into the top loops of the stitch).
- The "post" is the vertical part of the stitch below.
- Yarn over (YO) again and pull up a loop.
- You should now have 3 loops on your hook.
- Yarn over (YO) and pull through all 3 loops on your hook to complete the stitch.
Magic Circle
If you’re not comfortable with the magic circle, you can chain 4 stitches and make a slip stitch into the first chain to create a ring to work into.
In the beginning of the video tutorial, I demonstrate the magic circle slowly to help you follow along.
Abbreviations
- ch = chain
- sl st = slip stitch
- sc = single crochet
- hdc = half double crochet
- FPhdc = front post half double crochet
- st(s) = stitch(es)
- rep = repeat
Pattern Instructions
Round 1
- Make a magic ring. (Alternatively, chain 4 and slip stitch into the first chain to form a ring.)
- Chain 3 (counts as 1 hdc and 1 ch).
- Work [1 hdc, ch 1] 7 more times into the ring.
- Join with a slip stitch to the top of the ch-2. (You should now have 8 hdc and 8 ch-1 spaces.)
Round 2
- sl st to the first ch1 space
- Chain 2 (counts as 1 hdc), work 1 hdc into the same ch-1 space, ch 1, then work 2 hdc into the same ch-1 space.
- Work 1 FPhdc around the next hdc from Round 1.
- *Work 2 hdc into the next ch-1 space, ch 1, 2 hdc into the same ch-1 space. Work 1 FPhdc around the next hdc from the previous round.* Repeat from * to * around.
- Join with a slip stitch to the top of the ch-2. (You should now have 8 groups of [2 hdc, ch 1, 2 hdc], 8 FPhdc, and 8 ch-1 spaces.)
Finishing
- Fasten off and weave in all ends using a yarn needle.
- Block the piece if necessary to shape it.
