From Hat to Top: Another Delightful Project by Marie
After knitting the Ginkgo Biloba Hat from the talented designer Marie, I knew I was in for another delightful knitting adventure with her Ginkgo Biloba Top! Marie’s designs are really simple, beautiful, and easy to knit, and this top was no exception. The delicate details in combination with the straight forward construction made it a fun project from start to finish!

What Makes the Ginkgo Biloba Top Special?
The Ginkgo Biloba Top is knitted from the bottom up, with a neat folded hem that adds a polished touch. What truly sets this top apart is the charming leaf pattern, strategically placed in the front center and along the straps. These little leaves bring a unique and eye-catching element to the design, giving the top a lovely nature-inspired vibe that’s both subtle and striking.
The pattern was really easy to follow, though I did encounter a bit of difficulty. However, I contacted Marie for clarification, and she responded quickly with helpful guidance.
If you’ve knitted her other patterns, you’ll know she has a knack for making complex-looking designs accessible to all skill levels. It’s truly enjoyable to knit a pattern that’s easy to follow and requires minimal effort while still allowing you to create a stunning piece. I was able to complete the top in just a week as it knitted up so quickly!

Finding the Perfect Yarn
Finding the perfect wool is an adventure in itself. During a trip to our capital city, I stumbled upon a cute little yarn store tucked away in a side street. As any yarn lover would, I just had to go inside and explore the shop. I was instantly cought in the cozy atmosphere!
The store had a cute little knitting table in the middle where an elderly woman was sitting and knitting. She told me that she visits the store daily since she has lost her husband, as she finds comfort and connection through crafting. It’s a reminder that crafting brings people together at any age.
I strolled a litte through the store and in the last corner of the shop, I found it - a stunning red yarn from Lana Grossa that immediately caught my eye! The deep, rich shade was vibrant yet elegant, exactly the kind of color I was searching for. I instantly knew that the Linea Pura Cotton Wool was the yarn meant for the Ginkgo Biloba Top. It was soft, light, and perfect for summer knitting. As I left the yarn store with four skeins of yarn, I felt a bit proud of myself for not buying more. Going into a yarn store and coming out with only what you need should be an Olympic discipline!
Knitting the Top: A Relaxing Journey
Knitting the Ginkgo Biloba Top was such a joyful experience! It was so satisfying to watch the leaf pattern grow row by row, and the yarn’s vibrant red hue enhanced every stitch, making the leaves pop out even more. The best part about this pattern is how easily it comes together. Despite the detailed leaf pattern, the knitting process was very relaxing. It’s a wonderful project for everyone looking for something engaging, but not overwhelming.

Styling the Ginkgo Biloba Top
Red is one of my favorite colors, and this top, with its beautiful leaf details, has quickly become one of my go-to summer pieces. Its versatility makes it a wardrobe staple:
- Pair it with high-waisted jeans for a casual day out.
- Style it with an elegant skirt for a night on the town.
- Wear it with shorts or linen pants for a relaxed yet chic look.
It’s the kind of piece that works for just about any occasion, and I love how it reflects my style and creativity.

From finding the perfect yarn to watching the leaf pattern unfold, every step of the process was a reminder of why I love knitting so much! It’s about creating something unique, something that reflects your style and creativity.
Until then, happy knitting!

A few facts about the Ginkgo biloba tree:
Ginkgo biloba, also known as the maidenhair tree, is an ancient tree species that has been around for over 200 million years. It is native to China and Japan, and grows in many parts of the world now. Ginkgo biloba is a deciduous tree that can grow up to 100 feet (ca. 30 m) tall. It has fan-shaped leaves that have a light-green color.
The tree is dioecious, which means that there are separate male and female trees. The female trees produce fleshy, yellow fruits that have a mild, almond-like flavor.
Ginkgo biloba has been used in traditional Chinese medicine for thousands of years. It is thought to have a number of health benefits, including improving memory, reducing inflammation, and boosting cognitive function. More recently, Ginkgo biloba has been studied for its potential to treat a variety of conditions, including Alzheimer's disease, dementia, and age-related macular degeneration.
If you think about it, plants are really awesome and can have so many health benefits for humans.
